TCOE is partnering with Mollie Hackett of The DBQ Project! Document- Based Questions (DBQ) promote and support transformational change by providing teachers with materials that blend educational best practices with engaging historical inquiry. Come join us for a joint History-Social Science/English Language Arts DBQ experience that builds primary and secondary source analysis skills through engaging, high-interest inquiry lessons.

As inquiry is one of the key shifts in California’s new History-Social Science Framework, and as English Language Arts instruction is often guided by Essential Questions, HSS and ELA instructors alike are invited to participate in inquiry that weaves reading, interpretation, analysis, argument writing, speaking, and listening opportunities into fabulously fun, challenging, interactive learning experiences. Elements of a powerful DBQ essay will be emphasized as teachers are introduced to strategies they can use to promote strong, evidence-based writing.
