ELA PD Opportunities

EL Strategies Through Text Connections (Grades 4-12)

  • Dates: 12 – 12 Jan, 2023
  • Location: Visalia
  • Address: 7000 W Doe Avenue, Suite A Willow Room

English learners (ELs) are the fastest growing group of students in the United States and, by 2025, roughly one fourth of our students will be ELs. These students bring rich diversity into our classrooms. Along with this beautiful diversity comes a need for educators to understand linguistic and literacy differences and similarities. Teaching ELs from an assets based lens is embedded in the EL Roadmap.

Join this workshop and help your students analyze academic language, build on their experiences, and improve vocabulary development. Practice reiterative strategies that will work with any text. Learn how to approach your students' social and emotional needs through texts. Leave with strategies that will help your ELs rise to the task of ELPAC assessments and rigorous literacy demands across all domains.
