Putting It All Together: ELA (Grades K-1) - Session 4

  • Dates: 21 – 21 Apr, 2020
  • Location: Visalia
  • Address: 7000 W Doe Avenue, Suite A

Critical thinking, assessments, text selection, conferring, reading strategies—how do we put it all together in a way to increase students’ capacities as literate individuals?

These sessions are structured to build pedagogy with the most current literacy research so you leave knowing:

  • How to use instructional materials (district adopted or created) to implement the components of comprehensive literacy based on the ELA/ELD Standards.
  • How to develop foundational literacy practices that build proficiency in reading.
  • How to be intentional and responsive to readers, both individually and within small groups.
  • How to build students’ deep understanding of reading through a range of instructional settings (read aloud, interactive reading, shared reading, guided reading, and independent reading).
  • How to maximize learning by capitalizing on strong reading-writing connections.

This four-day series is designed to provide year-long support and opportunities to collaborate with other teachers to empower student reading. Join us for the year-long series or register for the session of your choosing.

Participants will receive a copy of Who’s Doing the Work? by Jan Burkins and Kim Yaris.
