Feel confident in engaging students in the NGSS Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) to develop skills for successful classroom and science fair experiences. Focus on scientific design (session 1), technical writing (session 2), and preparing for research posters and interviews (session 3).

July 23, 2018: Research that Rocks - Developing Young Researchers
Examine ways to elicit student thinking in the early process of research methodology design, then facilitate the process of carrying out investigations. Identify strategies to yield accurate and precise results that add to the scientific body of knowledge. Identify resources to facilitate student project design and experimentation from beginning to end.

July 24, 2018: A Journey to Journal Ready Writing
Participants will engage in the process of facilitating academic writing for research papers based on students’ findings. They will also learn to navigate APA formatting including citations, tables and figures to assist students in the process of presenting their project in the scientific community.

July 25, 2018: Science Posters that Pop!
Participants will develop strategies and resources to guide students through the process of creating professional scientific research posters. Explore design templates and strategies for facilitating students creation of engaging posters to display their findings. Explore characteristics of effective science fair presentations, and develop skills in coaching students to interview success.
