Number Talks are a 10-15 minute daily routine designed to build number sense through flexible computation strategies with the use of structured, student-led conversations.

In this training, participants will explore fraction concepts through interesting, open-ended questions that invoke reasoning in order to develop a depth of knowledge of fractions and their relationships. Participants will take a walk through the development of fraction understanding from the perspective of the student. We will highlight strategies referencing the California Mathematics Standards and utilizing the Mathematical Practices.

This session is perfect for those who are new to Number Talks or are interested in expanding their current routines to include problems with fractions.

The book, Number Talks: Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages, will be provided.
