Educators across California are concerned about the stress students express when discussing their family members’ immigration status. In response, Tulare County Office of Education, in partnership with Californians Together and Loyola Marymount University Center for Equity for English Learners (CEEL), will offer a one day professional learning session on how to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.  Join us to gain resources we can all use to support our students socially,
emotionally, and academically.

Training includes:

  • Grade-span classroom lesson modules addressing the social, emotional, and educational needs of students worried about immigration status of their families (K-2, 3-5, 6-12),
  • Interactive student-teacher scenarios,
  • Educator toolkit with resources to create welcoming schools, as well as other legal and educational resources,
  • Working with Schools to Protect Immigrants presented by Teresa Castellanos, Office of Immigrant Relations, County of Santa Clara Office of the County Executive.
  • This session may support LCFF Priority 6, AB699 implementation, State SEL Guidelines, and Safe Haven Schools initiatives.
Intended audience: District and county professional development staff, teacher leaders, English learner specialists and coordinators, Title I and Title III administrators and specialists, leadership teams from the district, county, or school site.
