Wondering what to do when your English learners are challenged by dense literary and informational text? Where is comprehension breaking down for your English learners — at the word level, the sentence level, or across the whole text?

The goal of ELD is meaning-making! This professional learning session will build awareness of responsive ELD instruction connected to close reading of complex text. We will help you pinpoint and address to the needs of ELs as they encounter the big work of reading comprehension.

We will learn strategies to draw attention to those aspects of language that can sometimes be confusing to students who are learning English as an additional language, including academic vocabulary, ambiguous language, complex sentences, and unfamiliar text structures.

Join us as we learn to demystify language to improve text comprehension. Bring a text of your choice for strategy application.
