Reading Like a Historian (Grades 6-12)

    08/24/2018 08:30:00

  • Location: Visalia
  • Address: 7000 W Doe Avenue, Suite A, Willow Room
Get your students excited about history! Stanford History Education Group’s Reading Like a Historian approach to learning history equips students to tackle history and historical documents in an investigative manner. By focusing on a central historical question, students analyze texts, corroborate evidence, source documents, question context, and interpret primary source documents accordingly.

Stimulate curiosity, improve inquiry skills, and increase student engagement as learners become highly proficient in document analysis and application of social studies literacy standards. Learn to facilitate practice of argument/counterargument, civil discourse, and collaboration in your classroom as students approach history as a mystery to solve rather than as information to memorize out of a textbook.
